Weekly feedback threads, Deep Dives update, & more

Hello, wonderful person!

Updates

We’ve started doing regular weekly #feedback threads! These are where we ask people what they’d value the most if they could have/do it in the community. Each thread closes 48 hours after opening. Then, I add the most-aligned ideas to the Ugeddit Discord todo list and even though I’m the only one managing the Discord right now, I implement these updates as soon as I can

We’ve added #gaming-social and #games-vc channels for people to chat & share about games they enjoy, maybe even play together and build new connections

For our #deep-dives, in our previous event (Friday, March 25th), there was at least one person wanted to speak, but there was a lot going on and they didn’t get to, so they didn’t feel heard. So to fix this, we’ve converted the #deep-dives-vc into a #Deep-Dives-Stage channel which allows us to use the “speaker” feature; this lets one person speak at a time, and others to respond to them. With this, we can rotate through speakers until everyone who wants to speak has a chance to share, so every participant can be included and heard

We’ve also added Skill Mastery roles that members can request, earn, and level up based on their usage and improvement of real-world communication skills

Next Steps

  • Brainstorming with the community for the next resource, channel, activity, or event they would value the most to have in Ugeddit
  • Updating the CNC (Core Needs Communication) skills tree with video examples demonstrating how to use each skill, and to show the effects of using them

How You Can Help

  • I really, really want to find a community manager who can help with the community management and events side of things, so if you know anyone, let me know in Discord or at sabian@ugeddit.com
