So much has happened that I could write a 50-page short story about my past few days, but ain’t no one got time for that, so I’m going to summarize them for you in 2 parts, with the first part being now…
Day 1: At the Clinic
Imagine going to a clinic at 3:30pm on a Friday, and based on your exam the doctor says you’ll want to get a scan to check for a life-threatening condition just to be safe. The doctor then gives you a paper with a list of locations you can get the scan done. One of the nearest locations on your list shows it closes at 5:30pm, and since it’s 3:50pm you decide to go right away to get everything settled in one day.
The Imaging Facility
You arrive at the location and see that the schedule sign on the door has a little note covering the original closing time, 5:30pm, with a new 4:30pm, which is now, and you’re watching the nurses lock the doors.
You feel a tiny bit irritated here, but you recognize it’s not the nurses’ faults, so you kindly chat with them, and ask about the difference in closing time and what time they close tomorrow, then you smile and thank them for letting you know, and they smile back.
At Home
When you get home by 5:30pm, you double-check the list of locations and discover that there was, in fact, a closer location that was literally one block away from the clinic you originally came from, and you could’ve reached it by 4pm if only you knew, and on top of that, this location shows it’s only open Mon-Fri. Today was Friday. God damn it.
Now you’re a little more irritated, this time at yourself for not noticing this, because only two locations on that list are open on Saturdays, and that one isn’t one of them, but you direct your focus on the goal and say “I just need to get this scan done, and that’s it”, so you end your day and go to bed.
Day 2 (Saturday)
You wake up, and despite yesterday, you actually…
(In part 2, unexpected luck, more frustrating confusion, an unbelievable situation…)
