Now We’re Movin’

Happy February! Let’s get straight to what we’ve done this week, and what’s up next.

This past week, we’ve

    1. Switched to a new AWS account (back end, server, etc), to avoid unnecessary charges. We previously set up an account before we actually used it, and ended up with a very short free tier, but switching to a new account solved thatAWS DynamoDB Database

    2. Updated both iOS and Android apps with build #3 (available on Google Play & TestFlight if you’ve already joined our alpha testing group), which includes an alpha tester information popup and fully functional chat. If you want to join our alpha testers, send me and email at info@ugeddit.com or a message in our Discord chat at https://discord.gg/kWrj7ZQYNsAlpha Tester Info PopupAlpha Tester Info Popup
    3. Had very good conversations with 4 people who I appreciate so much for spending their time chatting, sharing advice, and being good people in general
    4. Modeled the use-cases, structure, data architecture, and mockup for our core Conversations feature (the last feature needed for a complete MVP! Once we launch this, you’ll be able to use it to have intentional conversations, and your aligned feedback will be implemented very quickly)Conversations flow & mockupConversations flow & mockup

    5. Implemented the first functional part of back end code for Conversations into our API’s models and schemas

    6. Built a working UI framework for our app’s front end to display the back` end data for Conversations, once we integrate our front end with our API

For the next steps, we’ll be

  1. Integrating our Conversations API with our front end, so that (in addition to having the general chat, you will be able to
    1. See a realtime list of Conversations in the side menu
    2. Create a Conversation from your signed-in user account
    3. Join Conversations
  2. Implementing a proper user registration and login flow with password reset and other basic necessities
  3. Working together with you (our alpha testers) to learn if and how you think our features are helping create safer, more open places for people to connect, or otherwise what we can adjust to do it better.

For you

If you want to be a part of what we’re doing and help us build to achieve our first mission of helping 100 people understand each other better online, then if you’ve done

  • Full stack development (Flutter, NodeJS, AWS, Docker),
  • Pre-selling, crowdfunding, fundraising, and/or finance, or
  • Social media posting and networking (commenting, chatting, etc) with the goal of being helpful and inspiring to others

Then let’s chat about what this might look like, how much time we’re comfortable with, and what we’d both ideally get from working together

Otherwise, if you want to help passively (which is also valuable), you can post on your LinkedIn, Twitter, or anywhere else sharing which parts of Ugeddit (current and future) that you’re most excited about (and tag me! My Twitter: @finogwar)! You’ll be helping us spread the word to people who have been searching for something like Ugeddit, and they’ll have you to thank for helping them find it!

Onwards!
