Connecting with more communities

Hello, wonderful person!

We’ve been up to some fun stuff.

Updates

  • Our Deep Dive about Making Effective Decisions was nice and smooth. Remember last time, during our Building Connection Deep Dive we had “connection” problems (technology)? Yeah, this time was much better, and we definitely dove deep and learned valuable insights. You can see some notes on it in our Discord at Ugeddit/#deep-dives/#”Making Effective Decisions” if you want to join and check them out 😉
  • We’ve added an Invite Tracker to our Discord, but unfortunately the way it’s designed is not secure: it asks for administrative permissions to our entire server just to track which members invited who, so we decided not to enable its full functionality
  • One member had asked for a CNC (Core Needs Communication) workshop, and we’ve scheduled one for this Monday!
  • Another member said our increasing number of activities have been spamming them with too many unwanted notifications, so I’ve implemented #notification-roles in our server, which we will specifically ping (instead of @everyone) during our activities and events, so that people can enable these for themselves and get only the notifications they want
  • I (Sabian) have started reaching out to and connecting with several people in online groups since last week, and already 4 separate people have expressed interest in learning more about or joining Ugeddit (and a 5th person soon, I expect). I’ve sent them links, and will be excited to onboard them if they join

Next steps

  • We’ve started our next community feedback thread that closes Sunday 6pm PST for members to suggest ideas they have for making the server even more interesting and valuable to them. If you want to see us do something, then you can join and post a message!
  • I’ll continue to be connecting with people in communities online, sharing value to demonstrate goodwill, before even mentioning Ugeddit, because that’s how these 4 people became interested: they received value without any agenda, and naturally asked more about me out of curiosity & reciprocity
  • I’ve started working on a “Ugeddit Dictionary” for specific terms and words we use that are slightly different from the standard English definitions, where our definitions are more rooted in psychology and therapy. Because this dictionary is a Notion database, and our skill trees are also in Notion, we can set it up so users can easily click on terms to bring up their definitions right away, if they don’t know what certain words mean, kind of like our own little Wikipedia highlighted text. I’ll be casually working on this as well

How you can help

  • Community events, leadership, and management; anyone who enjoys doing one or more of these, hit me up. You’ll be very appreciated, whether you’re joining yourself, or referring someone else who does join

Always moving forward
