Growing Real Connection (Story)

Sabian: I first met Pietro through him filling out our team application form, which is an easy thing to miss, but we connected. At first, like any new intro, I asked him what excites him the most about Ugeddit that he wants to work with us to make happen, and he said “I found the ideals behind Ugeddit really moving and it’s value to improve the social well being of those who use the platform really resonates with what I believe technology should be used for”.

As we talked, he shared some of his experience working in startup environments doing full stack development and DevOps, and his well-rounded experience made a lot of sense with me, but also his mindset and how he thinks through problems to find sustainable solutions, not just duct-tape, and how he considers the longer-term, wider-impacting outcomes really shines in my mind, and likely many others’.

When we started working together, I noticed it wasn’t just talk, but he took a stand for what should be done without needing to be asked, and yet still confirming decisions with me to make sure they are what’s right for Ugeddit’s needs. We did have a few miscommunications which caused some confusion, but we learned how open we both are to correction and finding the source of the misunderstandings without any argumentation but clearing things up with both of us learning to communicate even better moving forward.

There’s much more I can say, but that’s all I have time to write up for now. I’m sure there are many things he would like to say about me and our team culture, and you might get to read about his perspective, maybe next week…?

Who knows? You’ll just have to see! (Or you can always ask!)

Onwards!
